Ella Still rides the Mountain Coaster on a sunny Thursday at Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Passengers — up to 2 people per cart — can board the 3,120-foot coaster near the base of the Peruvian chairlift outside the Snowbird Center and are pulled to the top of the track before gravity takes over. Firmly secured to the track, the cart's speed is controlled by the driver. In addition to the coaster, the resort features a host other summer activities, including a climbing wall, the Mountain Flyer, a ropes course and a bungee trampoline. According to the National Weather Service, visitors to the resort Friday will be greeted with mostly sunny skies and temperatures about 20 degrees cooler than the expected high of 95 in the Salt Lake Valley.
