Ford Motor Co. has raised prices of its currently sold-out Probe models an average of about $200, the company said. The increases took effect Friday. The Probe was introduced in May.

The two-door coupes are designed by Ford, jointly engineered by Ford and Mazda Motor Corp. and manufactured for Ford at Mazda's plant at Flat Rock.Robert L. Rewey, vice president for North American sales operations, said the increases were necessary because production costs rose.
