Cincinnati Reds majority owner Marge Schott is looking to Rome to help the ballclub out of its slump.
Schott will visit the Vatican in the next few days and have an audience with Pope John Paul II. She told Manager Pete Rose that the Reds will be brought to the pontiff's attention. "I told Pete the other day, `It's reached the point I'm asking for the Pope's help,' " she said.Schott planned to take a Reds jacket for the pope when she leaves for Rome today. It's just like the ones worn by the players, with one alteration - on the back are large letters that read "JOHN PAUL." Beneath the name is the number 2.
