An Aug. 2 murder trial has been set for a man accused of shooting another man in an Ogden bar.
Joe A. Morales, 31, entered a not-guilty plea to a second-degree murder charge Monday before 2nd District Judge David Roth.
Morales is accused of killing Raul Murillo, 47, on June 7 at Ponchos, a bar on lower 25th Street.
Prosecutors believe that the two men had a long-running feud between them and Morales allegedly shot Murillo after the victim allegedly told police that Morales had drugs and illegal weapons in his house. Police searched Morales' house but found none.
The shooting occurred about a week after the search was conducted, when Morales walked into the bar and found Murillo.
Witnesses said that the two walked over to the pool table to talk and when Murillo turned to walk away, a man allegedly shot him.
Morales was taken into custody a short time later at the railroad yards. He remains in the Weber County Jail on $10,000 bond.
