Getting into the monster opera act are London impresarios Lilian and Victor Hochhauser, who will assist in staging Verdi's "Aida" at Earl's Hall this summer.

The arena will seat 15,000 people, six times more than the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. American mezzo Grace Bumbry will sing opening night.Forces will be massive but not extreme, including the principals, London Symphony Orchestra, London City Ballet, and Ambrosian Opera Chorus of 200.

Don't look for elephants or camels, which Hochhauser says were anachronistic in the historic time frame of the opera.
