There is no job description for being a parent, but most can tell you it involves around-the-clock hours and sacrificing a lot. From working, cooking, and driving kids around, there’s no end to a parent's to-do list. When you think about all that parents do for their loved ones, it’s really incredible.
Just because parenthood is often regarded as a thankless job doesn’t mean that you have to fall into that stereotype when it comes to thanking your parents. Is there a father or father figure in your life that could benefit from some free dental work? Perhaps you know a hard-working dad who wishes his smile was a little more put-together.
If any of these traits remind you of someone you know and love, now is the time to take advantage. This Mother's Day and Father’s Day, Stubbs Dental is once again offering their All-on-4 Smile Giveaway.
What is the All-on-4 Giveaway?
Stubbs Dental recognizes the importance of strong parents in the community, and they want to give back and recognize those people. Every year they host a smile makeover giveaway to a deserving mom and dad.
This particular All-on-4 Giveaway is valued at $45,000. Mothers and fathers who have issues with their teeth, or are not confident to smile as wide as they could are eligible for nomination.
For example, Meridee, last year's Mother's Day winner, suffered from dental pain and discomfort. Her sister nominated her and she won a new smile. While the deadline for the Mother's Day giveaway is is over, the Father's Day giveaway is open and Stubbs Dental is accepting nominations.
What is the All-on-4 Procedure?
The All-on-4 method of dental restoration is a tried and true technique for dental implants. The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) describes an implant as, “...an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge.” Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost teeth due to injury, gum disease, and other traumas.
Typically in an All-on-4 procedure, the dentist will take x-rays of the patient's mouth and determine where to best place the implants. The patient is given an anesthetic — there are many options — and then the dentist will pull any teeth necessary and make small holes in the jawbone, according to Stubbs Dental. Instead of waiting a few months for these implants to heal, patients can leave the office with a secure set of dentures that are fully functional.
Perhaps the most appealing part of the All-on-4 method is that it makes for a one-day implant procedure rather than multiple ones that the traditional implant method requires. In addition to a more efficient procedure, healing may also be faster. Research presented in the Journal of the American Dental Association shows that the All-on-4 method shows few signs of bone loss five years after the procedure, making this a safe option for those who are eligible.
Who is eligible for the All-on-4 procedure?
Two main types of candidates qualify for this specific implant method: those who are missing a whole arch of teeth, or those who still have some original teeth but are still struggling with functionality and pain. Patients looking to receive this procedure should be in good health without any bleeding disorders or a history of bone deficiencies. However, many patients who don’t have sufficient bone density for traditional implants may likely qualify for the All-on-4 method.
