Dixie State sophomore swimmer Hannah Hansen has qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held March 14-17, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Hansen is the first Trailblazer in the program’s brief two-year history to qualify for the NCAA meet, doing so in the 200-yard breaststroke. She will make her championship debut in preliminary heats on the final day of competition on Saturday, March 17, beginning at 8 a.m. MT, with the event final following later in the evening session that begins at 4 p.m.
Hansen qualified for the NCAA Championships after posting a DSU school-record time of 2:17.46 two weeks ago at the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships in La Mirada, California. Hansen’s school record in the 200 breast was one of four total school individual records she broke, along with the 100 fly, 100 breast and 200 IM, during her first season in the Trailblazer program.
“This is a fantastic step for our program and the fulfillment of a dream for Hannah to be able to compete at the NCAA Championships,” DSU head women’s swim coach Benjamin Rae said. “Hannah is truly setting a standard and paving the way for the future of our program.”
