DSU women’s golf stands in 14th place after Monday’s round.

Dixie State’s women’s golf team stands in 14th place overall after the first round of play at the 2018 California Baptist Lancer Joust played Monday at the par-72 Goose Creek Golf Club.

The Trailblazers carded a team score of 325 (+37), 31 shots off the pace set by the host Lancers (294, +6), who own a seven-stroke lead on second-place Cal State San Marcos (301, +13) and are 12 shots clear of Academy of Art (306, +18).

Junior Katie Ford and freshman Kaitlynn Deeble paced the Trailblazers on day one with matching 7-over 79s to join seven others in t-36th after their opening loops, while sophomore Ashley Fernandez penciled in a team-high two birdies on her way to a 10-over 82 to finish in a group of eight golfers tied for 59th. Freshman Cailyn Cardall is tied for 79th place after firing a 13-over 85, and junior Amalia Negrette follows in t-84th at 14-over 86.

Dixie State looks to rebound in Tuesday’s final round, which begins at 8 a.m. PT.
