The Dixie State women’s tennis team cruised to a 7-2 victory over Biola on Saturday at Dixie High School for its first win of the spring portion of its schedule.
The Trailblazers (4-5) jumped out to an early 2-1 lead with two wins during doubles play. Kyra Harames and Sabrina Longson set the tone with an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Lacey Hancock and Yolena Carlon needed a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles but held on for the 8-7 win.
Dixie State continued its run into singles play, taking five of the six singles match. Carlon rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles, while Frances Hina Goldsmith grabbed a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. Longson fought for a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, while Harames picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. Hancock wrapped up singles play with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-6 tiebreaker win at No. 1 singles.
The Trailblazers head to Ogden, Utah, for a matchup against Division I Weber State next Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
