SALT LAKE CITY — Utah ended a perfect week at home with a dominating 77-43 victory over California on Saturday night at the Huntsman Center.
Turning point: With Utah leading 19-16 with 9:21 left in the first half, the Utes went on a 21-5 run to go up 40-21 before California (8-18, 2-11 Pac-12) ended the half with a 3-pointer.
The heroes: David Collette paced the Utah offense with 18 points while shooting 9 of 10 from the field, and he added three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Guards Justin Bibbins (15 points, four 3-pointers) and Sedrick Barefield (13, three 3-pointers) also provided an offensive spark.
- Utah shot 54.9 percent from the field, while the Golden Bears shot 30.2 percent. The Utes also had 24 assists, compared to seven for Cal.
- The Utes hit 13 of 28 3-point attempts, while California was 4 of 24 beyond the arc.
- Utah forced the Golden Bears into 16 turnovers and turned it into a 19-9 edge in points off turnovers.
