PROVO — BYU returned home and ended a two-game losing skid, beating Santa Clara 80-58 Thursday night at the Marriott Center.
Turning point: BYU went on a 13-0 run, including six straight points in a 45-second span, to turn a 50-45 lead into a 63-45 edge in the second half.
The hero: Yoeli Childs had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to go with five assists and a blocked shot.
- The Cougars shot 58.6 percent from the field, including 65.4 in the second half, while Santa Clara shot 41 percent from the field.
- BYU owned the paint, finishing with a 37-27 rebounding edge and a 54-28 advantage in points in the paint.
- The Cougars had four players in double-figure scoring: Childs, Elijah Bryant (14), TJ Haws (14) and Dalton Nixon (12).
