On Wednesday, Real Salt Lake announced the signing of midfielder Damir Kreilach. The 28-year-old last played for Union Berlin, where he scored 33 goals in 147 caps. A native of Vukovar, Croatia, Kreilach has played for two clubs in his career — Union Berlin and Rijeka. Kreilach is available immediately for RSL after being acquired using Targeted Allocation Money.

“We’re really excited about bringing Demir in. He’s got a ton of experience and challenges out depth immediately. He brings talent. He brings leadership — he was the co-captain of Union Berlin. He’s a good person. He’s going to be a good fit in our locker room,” Real Salt Lake general manager Craig Waibel said in a press release.

RSL, SAN JOSE PLAY TO DRAW: In Real Salt Lake’s second match of preseason play, the club tied San Jose 1-1 in Tucson, Arizona. RSL scored 55 minutes into the match, on a goal by Alfredo Ortuno, assisted by Ricky Lopez-Espin. In the 60th minute, Real Salt Lake conceded a header by Quincy Amarikwa on a ball from Tommy Thompson, which leveled the match and would be the final goal scored in the contest. Up next, Real Salt Lake continues preseason action as they travel to Orlando, Florida to on Orlando City SC on Feb. 17 and New York City FC on Feb. 22.
