Over the past few years, Desert Hills offensive lineman Penei Sewell has become one of the most highly recruited prospects in Utah state history, with scholarship offers from around the country.
On National Signing Day Wednesday, Sewell, the consensus top player in the state and widely seen as a Top 60 prospect in the country in the Class of 2018, announced that he will play collegiately for the Oregon Ducks during a ceremony at Desert Hills High School.
The 6-foot-5, 350-pound Sewell chose the Ducks over Alabama, Utah and USC. He had originally planned to pledge during the early signing period in December, but announced at that time that he would wait until February.
Among the honors he received during his prep career with the Thunder, Sewell was named a U.S. Army All-American.
