Utah Valley junior Savannah Neuberger runs. She broke the UVU women's track and field record in the 800 at the Mountain States Games hosted by Idaho State.

Utah Valley women's track and field senior Savannah Berry in the 5,000-meter and junior Savannah Neuberger in the 800-meter bested school records in their respective events to headline UVU's 10 top-three finishes at the Mountain States Games inside Holt Arena.

Berry crushed her own school record in the 5K, finishing with a time of 16:54.44 to overlap her previous career best (17:20.12) by 25.68 seconds on day one of the Idaho State hosted meet. In her women's 800 win, Neuberger took over the top program spot with a time of 2:13.58 to sneak past former Wolverine runner Shelise Walker's previous record (2:13.56) by .05 seconds.

"It was a good weekend," said Utah Valley head coach Scott Houle. "We usually don't split our team up, but sometimes you have to choose the meets and races that give you the opportunity to get good times and marks to qualify for the WAC Championships. I thought it went really well, and all our events are rounding out to be pretty solid."

The record-breaking senior, Berry followed up her second-place 5K finish with another second-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter on the final day of the meet Saturday afternoon.

Berry's senior distance runner teammate, McKayla Walker joined Berry among the top-three finishers in the 5K. Morgan took third with a time that also surpassed Berry's previous personal record, as she posted a time of 16:58.82 to move into second on the school record list.

Walker's successful meet continued Saturday with her victory in the women's 3K, leading the way for a one-two finish by her and Berry in the race. Walker's win came on a time of 9:53.02, and Berry finished close behind with a time of 9:57.27.

Joining in on the Wolverine victories, UVU's men's squad featured wins by freshman Anthony Ocegueda in the men's 800 and senior Brandon Edmondson in the men's mile. Ocegueda claimed a Utah Valley 800 sweep on a time of 1:53.81, while Edmondson completed the mile in 4:15.86.

The Utah Valley men's distance medley relay squad consisting of Edmondson, sophomore Adrian Jones, freshman Thomas Pickford and junior Joseph Christensen picked up a victory with a time of 10:20.86

Senior Shevaun Ames added a second-place finish for the UVU women in the mile, clocking a time of 5:08.38 in the process. In the men's 5K, freshman Geofrey Kemboi finalized the Wolverines' nine top-three finishes in third place with a personal record of 14:53.90.

Following suit of their Wolverine teammates' successes, freshman Hannah Branch and sophomore Sam Hedquist recorded personal bests in their 5K appearances. Branch tallied a time of 17:54.86 and Hedquist logged a time of 18:00.82 in Utah Valley's final indoor regular season meet.

UVU will now have nearly three weeks to prepare to return to action in Boise, Idaho, for the 2018 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 22-24.
