AFC quarterback Alex Smith (11), of the Kansas City Chiefs, looks to pass, during the first half of the NFL Pro Bowl football game against the NFC, Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, in Orlando, Fla.

Kansas City Chiefs fans are thanking former Utah quarterback Alex Smith after his five seasons with the team. Smith is being traded to the Washington Redskins.

Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star has compiled some of the social media messages directed at Smith. They include a note from the Watson family, who received tickets to a Chiefs game and a visit with Smith at Arrowhead Stadium following an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Grathoff reports that Marcus Watson wrote, “I wish you and your family nothing but the best, Alex” on Reddit.
