Utah State men’s tennis freshman Jose Carvajal was named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Jan. 23, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Overall, it is the first time this season and in his career Carvajal has earned MW Player of the Week honors.

Carvajal, a native of Pereira, Colombia, posted an overall 2-0 mark in singles and doubles play last weekend in Utah State's 4-3 loss at Utah. Carvajal and senior Jaime Barajas recorded the Aggies' only doubles win with a 7-5 victory at the first position. Carvajal then won his singles match at the No. 4 spot in straight sets (6-3, 7-6).

Utah State men’s tennis continues its 2018 dual match season at the ITA Kick-off Weekend in Los Angeles, California. The Aggies first take on UCF on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. MT, before competing in another match on Sunday.
