FILE: Utah Jazz fans cheer after guard Rodney Hood (5) hit a three during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.

SALT LAKE CITY — A day after regaining a spot in the starting lineup, Rodney Hood won't be playing tonight against the L.A. Clippers because of injury.

Hood, who has battled injuries throughout his career in Utah, will miss the game because of a lower leg contusion suffered late in Friday's game against New York.

Hood, who started in place of Joe Ingles on Friday, was noticeably absent from the lineup down the stretch when the Jazz were trying to get back in the game against the Knicks. He was subbed out for Ricky Rubio with 4:21 left in the game and didn't return.

Earlier this season, Hood missed two games because of a lower left leg strain and seven games because of left ankle soreness.

It is assumed that Joe Ingles will start against the Clippers, although coach Quin Snyder wouldn't confirm that in his pre-game press conference.

The Jazz will head out on the road after Saturday's game to play Atlanta on Monday night.
