Dixie State women’s swimming team closed out its 2017-18 regular season competition schedule with a dual meet victory over Alaska-Fairbanks at the Loyola Marymount-hosted Lion Cup held Friday and Saturday at the LMU Burns Aquatic Center.
Though the meet featured four teams, DSU and UAF were scored as a three-round Division II dual, which the Trailblazers won by a 318-256 count. LMU and Pepperdine also competed in a Division I two-day dual.
The Trailblazers posted 15 top-10 all-time program marks and collected five event wins overall, highlighted by a pair of event victories by sophomore Hannah Hansen in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.05, No. 8 all-time at DSU) and the 200 breast (2:25.19, No. 6 all-time at DSU). Dixie State also swept the top-five spots in the 50 freestyle, led by sophomore Audrey Parrish with an event-winning time of 25.34.
Parrish also swam the anchor leg in DSU’s 200 free relay event win as she teamed up with junior Phebe James, freshman McKenna Fowler and sophomore Saydria Russell to post the ninth-fastest relay time in program history with a 1:41.47. In addition, sophomore Sydney Anderson touched the wall first in claiming a win in the 100 backstroke with a season-best mark of 1:00.53.
Dixie State will host an intrasquad team time trial on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Washington City Community Center. The time trial will serve as the Trailblazers' final tune-up before the 2018 PCSC Conference Championships, which will be held Feb. 14-17, in La Mirada, California.
