HUNTSVILLE, Utah – Ann-Kathrin Breuning finished tied for fourth in the women’s giant slalom as the Utah ski team stands second after the first day of the Utah Invitational, hosted by Snowbasin, on Thursday afternoon.
Breuning continues to be the most consistent women’s skier on the RMISA circuit, finishing in the top five of every race this season. Julie Mohagen had her best finish of the year, tying for eighth on the day. Sabine Krautgasser placed 19thfor the Utes.
Utah’s 64.5 points is second behind Denver, which placed three skiers in the top four for 107 points. Westminster College ranks third with 59 points, followed by Montana State (56.5) and New Mexico (55).
The Utah Invitational continues on Friday, Jan. 12, with the men’s giant slalom, and continues with the men’s and women’s slalom races on Saturday, Jan. 13. Races begin tentatively at 9:00 a.m. The finish line is at the base of the Wildcat Express lift.
