Dixie State women’s swimming team opened the new year with several top marks in a two-team dual meet with Arizona Christian held Friday and Saturday at the Washington City Community Center.
The Trailblazers won all 14 events against the undermanned Firestorm as DSU saw its first competition in more than a month. In all, six top-10 all-time marks were recorded, three of which were posted by sophomore Hannah Hansen in event wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.01, No. 6 all-time), the 200 breast (2:26.17, No. 7 all-time) and the 200 IM (2:15.21, No. 6 all-time).
Hansen also swam a leg in the 200 medley relay as she teamed up with sophomores Sydney Anderson and Audrey Parrish and freshman Lexi Sorensen to record the seventh-fastest time in program history with an event-winning 1:51.97. In addition, sophomore Katie Pack swam the eighth-fastest 1000 freestyle time at 11:12.79 to win that event, and freshman Hannah Bodkin posted the eighth-quickest 200 breast time with a second-place 2:30.15.
Dixie State will travel to Los Angeles next weekend to compete in the two-day Loyola Marymount Lion Invitational.
