The Utah Jazz opened the new year with a 108-98 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The turning point: Up by a point with 1:32 remaining in the third quarter, the Pelicans went on an 8-0 run to close the frame. The Jazz got within three in the fourth, but couldn’t close the gap.
- New Orleans shot 13 of 29 from behind the 3-point line while Utah went just 6-of-29
- The Jazz’s shooting guard trio of Donovan Mitchell, Rodney Hood and Alec Burks combined to shoot just 10 of 34 from the field
