OKLAHOMA CITY —The NBA 2K18 video game has apparently already leaked Utah’s latest Nike City Edition jersey, but the team announced that the threads would be officially unveiled on Dec. 27.
Based on the leak, the jersey appeared to blend orange, red and yellow as each NBA team’s City Edition jerseys look to represent their community.
A video tribute to the fans, community and state was rolled out on the Jazz’s social media account Tuesday stating that the jersey will celebrate Utah’s red rocks, canyon lands, arches, sunsets and the area’s beautiful scenery.
SAFETY FIRST: Members of the Jazz enjoyed an extra night in Houston Monday night after losing their second straight game to the Rockets, 120-99. Texas’s foggy weather conditions forced the guys to leave for Oklahoma City on Tuesday morning instead, and the team didn’t hold practice once they arrived. Utah will participate in shootaround on Wednesday morning as they looking to recharge against the Thunder. Tipoff begins at 6 p.m. MT at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
RODNEY DOIN’ WORK: Whenever Rodney Hood is available, he certainly gets buckets. During Monday’s loss in Houston, Hood continued his double-digit scoring streak with 26 points off the bench on 10-for-18 shooting. He also added four dimes, three boards and two steals in 31 minutes. The former Duke star has scored in double figures for 16 consecutive games, including seven games of 20 or more points. Hood has missed nine games this season with ankle and hamstring soreness, but the left-handed shooting guard continues to thrive in his new role off the bench averaging a career-best 17.6 points per game in his fourth season.
RECOVERY: Donovan Mitchell is questionable for Wednesday's game with a right great toe contusion. Jazzmen Rudy Gobert, Derrick Favors, Dante Exum, and Raul Neto are also on injury report, but continue to travel with the team as they work to get back on the court. There’s still no timetable on Exum’s return as he recovers from shoulder surgery, Favors has missed back-to-back games due to concussion protocol, Neto has missed five straight games with a concussion, and Gobert could be out another month after going down in Boston during the first quarter with a left PCL sprain in his left knee and bone bruise. The Jazz have struggled to get healthy all season. The Jazz are currently in ninth place of the Western Conference standings and still in playoff contention at 14-16, with Ekpe Udoh, Joe Johnson and Jonas Jerebko playing bigger roles. It’s hard to figure this team out as the Jazz have been through spurts of being hot and cold without a consistent lineup.
“There’s nothing wrong,” said Jazz coach Quin Snyder. “This is a year of a young group and new group that’s trying to figure it out.”
