A local product with professional experience here as well as elsewhere in the MLS will be joining Real Salt Lake.

Defender Taylor Peay, who prepped at Brighton High School before a collegiate career at Washington and stints with the Portland Timbers and Real Monarchs was acquired Friday by RSL from the Timbers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.

From 2014-2016, Peay appeared in seven matches for the Timbers and then saw action in 21 for the Monarchs last season, starting 18.

Also on Friday, the team announced the signing of RSL Academy product Aaron Herrera, a defender who has played the last three seasons at the University of New Mexico.
