Utah State women's basketball (2-7) opens its final set of non-conference games this weekend, as it hosts Denver (6-5) on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m.

All regular-season home and Mountain West games will continue to be broadcast as a USU Athletics Production on the Mountain West Network. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available through GameTracker, while updates will also be provided through the team’s social media outlets. Utah State women’s basketball games are also broadcast on the radio on 92.3 KBLU, with Jaden Johnson on the call. The games will be streamed on the air and online. Links to each option will be available online prior to every game.

Saturday’s game will be the opening half of a Utah State basketball doubleheader, as the Aggie men host Life Pacific at 7 p.m. Fans who attend both games will receive a discounted rate. With a men’s ticket, fans can get $1 admission to the women’s game, while fans showing a women’s ticket at the men’s game will get in for $5.

Denver makes the trip to Logan with a 6-5 record on the season. Saturday will be the third-straight road contest for the Pioneers. It will also be the fourth game against a Mountain West opponent, as DU defeated Air Force (75-54) and dropped games to Wyoming (61-51) and Colorado State (61-56).

Denver returned 10 letterwinners and three starters to its roster this season, from a team that went 6-24 overall and 3-13 in Summit League action in the 2016-17 campaign. Sophomore forward Madison Nelson is an all-around leader for the Pioneers, as she leads the team with 9.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is also the team leader in blocks and steals. As a team, Denver is averaging 67.5 points per game, while holding its opponents to 60.9 points. The Pioneers are shooting 37.9 percent (269-of-710) from the floor, 35.3 percent (91-of-258) from the 3-point line and 66.5 percent (113-of-170) from the free-throw line. Jim Turgeon is in his first season as the head coach at Denver.

The series between Utah State and Denver is limited to just one shared season in the Western Athletic Conference. The teams met three times during the 2012-13 season, with the Aggies winning all three meetings.

Sophomore guard Olivia West is the leading scorer for the Aggies, averaging 15.8 points per game, while sophomore guard/forward Shannon Dufficy is the top rebounder, averaging 8.9 boards per game. As a team, Utah State is shooting 39.9 percent (208-of-521) from the field, 26.6 percent (45-of-169) from the 3-point line and 66.0 percent (101-of-153) from the free-throw line.
