Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell is starting to get more attention outside of the Beehive State, as he was the focus of a feature by Basketball Insiders' Michael Scotto following his 41-point performance last Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Scotto focused on how Mitchell is helping to make up for the departure of Gordon Hayward to the Boston Celtics, although the youngster said he's not focused on awards like Rookie of the Year.
"I think thinking about the Rookie of the Year award leads to more of a self-driven thing and selfish type of thing, so I just want to focus on being able to make the playoffs," Mitchell said. "That’s the biggest thing. Make the playoffs. Help my team win in any way possible in any way that I can.”
Potential Alec Burks trade?
One of Mitchell's teammates, guard Alec Burks, is playing arguably the best basketball of his career right now, but should he be on the trading block?
The Ringer seems to think so, as Burks is part of one of six trades the publication suggested in a recent piece. As proposed by Jonathan Tjarks, the deal would send Burks to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for forward Maurice Harkless.
"Utah has been running a patchwork rotation at the small-ball 4 position with Joe Johnson out, and Harkless is worth a shot as a long-term answer there," Tjarks writes. "Burks has never been able to live up to his potential in Utah, and he’s third in the pecking order at shooting guard behind Donovan Mitchell and Rodney Hood."

The NBA put a video on Twitter of some of the most difficult shots made during the month of November, and two with local connections are on the 3:29 clip.
At about the 1:05 mark, former Weber State star Damian Lillard made a tricky layup for the Blazers against the Wizards and at the 1:55 mark, Nets guard Isaiah Whitehead makes one in between Jazzmen Ricky Rubio and Jonas Jerebko.
