OREM — BYU earned some revenge for their loss last season against UVU, as the Cougars beat the Wolverines 85-58 at the UCCU Center on Wednesday night.
The turning point: After BYU fell behind 10-9 on a UVU 3-pointer with 15:55 left in the first half, the Cougars went on a 19-4 run over the next eight minutes to take control.
- The Cougars were more effective from outside, hitting 12 of 26 3-pointers compared to 1 of 8 for the Wolverines.
- BYU had a distinct advantage in assists, with 25 for the Cougars and six for UVU.
- While the turnovers were fairly even — BYU had 16 while UVU had 17 — the Cougars held a 20-10 edge in points off turnovers.

The hero: Yoeli Childs had 24 points, including 18 first-half points and two 3-pointers, and added 11 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. The Wolverines were led by Brandon Randolph's 16 points, four rebounds and two assists.
