Letter to the Editor

As a sophomore in college, I cannot imagine my life without an education. Since the day I was born, I have been surrounded with opportunities to learn more, try harder, excel as much as possible.

It was never a question of if I would go to college but where. From a college student's perspective, I cannot fathom a world without education, but that is the case for 263 million kids around the world.

While I cannot wrap my head around why we have let this occur, I can support ways we can go about making education more accessible. The Global Partnership for Education is launching a new plan to give millions more children the education they deserve. On Feb. 2, 2018, GPE will meet with world leaders to raise resources for the plan. I hope we can count on Sen. Lee, Sen. Hatch, and Congressman Stewart to let the Trump administration know that there is bipartisan support for global education and GPE.

I, as a college student, have received so much that I can only hope that others will push for more access to a fundamental right: education.
