I find it alarming that Rep. Jeremy Peterson of Ogden calls the Electoral College a "broken system" and is trying to negate it. On the contrary, the Electoral College functions exactly as it was meant to by giving voice to each state's majority of voters. The National Popular Vote movement is nothing more than an attempted end run around the voters of any given smaller populated states who disagree with voters of larger populated states. Those smaller numbers of electoral votes add up and are counted, which is as it should be. It doesn't matter what campaign strategy a presidential candidate pursues; in the end everyone who cares to vote will have their vote counted and properly represented under our current system. I hope our Utah Legislature is smart enough to recognize that and not hitch our votes to another state's wagon.
