What is Utah’s favorite side dish? Recent reports seem unsure.

Two recent reports on each state’s favorite side dish are split on what Utahns enjoy most on Thanksgiving, other than the turkey, of course.

One report said Utahns have a sweet tooth. Google data collected over the last three years revealed that Utah’s favorite side dish on Thanksgiving Day is yams, according to The Huffington Post.

But a separate report offered a more traditional favorite. General Mills compiled data on the most popular and unusual food in every state using both BettyCrocker.com, TableSpoon.com and Pillsbury.com.

Crescent recipes led the way in Utah.

A 2014 report from The New York Times identified funeral potatoes as the Beehive State’s favorite Thanksgiving recipe, though, throwing another wrench into trying to determine the favorite.

Utah's favorite dessert seems to be pretty clear: pumpkin pie. The Huffington Post recently created an interactive tool so people can search for each state’s favorite pie recipe. The tool uses Google data compiled from November 2016 to see which pie recipes Americans enjoy most.

For Utah, the most uniquely-searched pie recipe is pumpkin pie. Similarly, the most search pie recipe is for pumpkin pie, too.

As the Deseret News reported, Google data found that Utah’s favorite recipe overall is stew, at least based on the state’s most Googled recipe.
