Division I college football is one of the nation's most-watched sports and has some of the highest ratings on television. The demand for these high-scoring, fast-paced and hard-hitting football games is higher than ever, and it is thanks to the extremely talented players that put on the show for the whole world to see. You would think such a crowd-pleasing entertainment show would treat their supporting cast all equally and get the sort of compensation they deserve, right? Well, that is certainly not the case. These athletes are being taken advantage of for their talents and deserve to receive additional payment for the revenue they bring to their schools.
There are athletes at schools such as Alabama, LSU, USC and many more that are being used on banners, tickets and television commercials without receiving a dime for the advertisement to promote their schools and athletic programs. On average, these students are forced to practice on average 40-plus hours a week while sacrificing class and study time.
The reality is that being a college athlete is no different than having a full-time job. Instead of hoarding all the money for these millionaire coaches and schools, reward these athletes for all the publicity and revenue they provide for you.
