Many thanks to the Deseret News and especially to Doug Robinson for the feature story in the Nov. 10 edition ("WWII fighter pilot: 'I didn’t think I’d make it through the war'"). The war and postwar experiences of U.S. Army Air Corps pilot Bob Sharp made fascinating reading for this Korean Conflict Air Force vet. I was a 10-year-old living at Fort Knox, Kentucky (my dad was serving in the 1st Armored Division), when WWII erupted, so we followed every news report, but I was totally immersed in the battle in the air. The table in my bedroom always had a balsa-wood-and-tissue-paper model "warbird" under construction. What is frightening is the thought that many stories from "the greatest generation" have not been told yet, and we may be losing the opportunity at the rate of 372 per day!
