Dixie State men’s soccer team placed two players on the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Men’s Soccer All-West Region Team, which was announced on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Moises Medina was voted to the D2CCA first team and will advance on to the national ballot for All-America consideration, while senior defender Bryan Baugh earned second-team all-West Region recognition.

Medina, who also earned first-team all-Pacific West Conference honors and 2016 D2CCA second-team accolades as a freshman, enjoyed a record-breaking season in 2017 as he set DSU single-season records for goals scored (12), assists (eight) and points (32). Four of his 12 goals on the year were game-winning scores, and he became just the second player in program history to record two hat tricks in one season, doing so vs. Colorado-Colorado Springs and at home against Point Loma.

Medina finished the 2017 campaign on a tear as he scored at least one goal in five of his final seven matches of the year, and he tallied at least one point in 11 of 17 matches played overall. Medina’s eight assists this season also pulled him into a tie atop DSU’s career assists list with Baugh (14).

Baugh, who also picked up first-team all-PacWest honors this past season, anchored a DSU defense that recorded five shutout wins and surrendered just 24 goals in 17 matches overall (1.38 GAA). He also tallied two goals on the offensive side, including his fourth-career goal in the season finale win over Azusa Pacific, and assisted on another score earlier in the season.

Baugh is a two-time D2CCA honoree, having earned first-team all-region and Honorable Mention All-America recognition in 2016.

Dixie State finished the 2017 season with a 12-5-0 overall record, which included a fifth-place finish in PacWest play at 8-5-0. The 12 wins this season marked the third-straight year the program has won 10 or more matches in a season.

In all, 13 players were voted to the D2CCA All-West Region First Team, and each will now be included on the All-America ballot. The 2017 D2CCA All-America Team will be announced on Nov. 30.

The annual regional postseason awards program, sponsored by the D2CCA, is voted on by the region’s sports information directors. In total, 14 different West Region institutions featured at least one All-Region player this season.

The D2CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
