SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s season-opening victory parade is expected to continue Monday night at 7 in the Huntsman Center.

After dispatching Prairie View A&M 83-62 on Saturday, the Runnin’ Utes (1-0) return to action against Mississippi Valley State (0-1). The Delta Devils (0-1) are coming off a 91-61 loss at BYU on Saturday.

In Utah’s opener, Sedrick Barefield scored a game-high 22 points. David Collette contributed 17 and Tyler Rawson added 16 as the Utes overcame a turnover-plagued first half to win handily.

“I feel like we’ve got a good group of guys that really mesh together,” said Rawson, who explained that it all began with the team’s European tour over the summer. “We were able to bond and really get to know each other. Coach (Larry Krystkowiak) has done a great job of bringing guys in and our future recruiting classes are going to be nice.

“We just all get along,” Rawson continued. “It’s as simple as that.”

Utah is in the midst of a busy early schedule featuring six games in 14 days. The Utes host Missouri Thursday before heading to Las Vegas for games against Mississippi on Nov. 20 and Rice or UNLV on Nov. 22. They’ll return home to take on Eastern Washington on Nov. 24.
