Dixie State’s women’s volleyball team could not overcome a cold hitting night as the Trailblazers dropped a straight-set road result at No. 3 California Baptist (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) on Friday night inside the Van Dyne Gymnasium.
The Trailblazers (9-13, 7-7 PacWest) were held to a season-low -.024 hitting percentage, in large part to a stingy CBU (23-0, 15-0 PacWest) defense that finished with 16 total team blocks. Junior outside hitter Hannah Doonan led DSU with eight kills, while freshman Jordyn Nelson assisted on 14 of the Trailblazers’ 31 total kills and junior libero Sid Brandon finished with a match-high 13 digs.
CBU hit .167 for the match, with McKenna Witt (11 kills) and Lauren Hackett (10 kills) combining for 21 of the Lancers’ 33 kills.
Dixie State will quickly turn around and play at Point Loma on Saturday in San Diego.
