Eight years ago when my son and I worked against the demolition of Olympus and Granger high schools, we asked whether Granite School District had any regard for the value of its historic buildings. We were told by the district that indeed it did care about its history, pointing to Granite High School as proof.

Now Granite High School is gone and the message is clear: The school district has a persistent disregard for historic preservation. Skyline High School, where five of my sons attended, may be the next casualty, a building with irreplaceable value. I recommend voting against a Granite School District bond. The district should seriously engage and publicly discuss options to save the most significant school building it has left.
