For the second-consecutive week, Dixie State sophomore Jayce Frampton was named Pacific West Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week on Thursday after he claimed his second-straight individual tournament title at the Hawai’i Hilo-Dennis Rose Intercollegiate played last weekend at the Waikoloa Beach Course in Waikoloa Village, Hawai’i.
Frampton (6-foot-0; Centerville, Utah/Viewmont HS) became just the second player in DSU’s NCAA era to win back-to-back tournaments as he opened with consecutive rounds of even-par 70 on day one, followed by a final round 2-under 68 to claim medalist honors at minus-2 208. Frampton’s efforts helped lead DSU to a third-place team finish in the Trailblazers’ final fall tournament.
Frampton added his name in the record book next to former DSU player Kenny You, who achieved the feat during the 2014-15 spring season when he won three tournaments overall en route to PING All-America honors. Frampton also won the rain-shortened DSU-hosted Island Invitational earlier in the week.
Dixie State will open the 2018 spring schedule in February, though to date the official schedule has not been finalized.
