THE STAKES

For UCLA … The Bruins, with a win, could certainly throw some cold water on a hot seat head coach Jim Mora could be sitting on. Slim Pac-12 South title hopes are still on the line.

For Utah ... The Utes are seeking a November to remember — in a good way. A winless October has them scrambling to remain relevant. A loss Friday could lead to a complete spiral.

THE TRENDS

For UCLA … The Bruins have prevailed in their last two trips to Rice-Eccles Stadium, prevailing 17-9 in 2015 and 34-27 in 2013. This journey follows a lopsided loss at Washington.

For Utah ... The Utes have lost four straight games — falling to Stanford, USC, Arizona State and Oregon — after a 4-0 start. They’re 3-3 against UCLA since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.

THE CRYSTAL BALL

For UCLA … If quarterback Josh Rosen plays, the Bruins have a chance to put up some big numbers. Utah’s defense enters the game with just 14 sacks in eight games.

For Utah ... Three letters may say it all: R-U-N. The reeling Utes need to be able to do it on offense and slow it down, if necessary given UCLA’s passing game, on defense. If only things were that simple.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Zack Moss, Utah running back: Can the sophomore regain the form that produced a career-high 141 yards rushing at USC on Oct. 14? He’s had a combined 102 in two games since then.

KEY MATCHUP

Utah rushing attack vs. UCLA: The Utes have had trouble running the ball as of late. They rank eighth in the Pac-12 with 146.8 yards per game. UCLA’s rushing defense is 12th, giving up 307.1 yards on the ground.

QUOTABLE

“I know my teammates and the coaching staff, they’re not going to quit or ever give in. So that’s all we can do."

— UCLA receiver Darren Andrews (Los Angeles Daily News)

"I think they are in the exact same situation we are, so it will be two teams in search of a win and needing a win, so we will go at it Friday night."

— Utah coach Kyle Whittingham
