The article about millions returning to poverty in Brazil could soon be about America if the budget currently proposed by the president and Congress passes ("Millions return to poverty in Brazil, eroding ‘boom’ decade" Oct. 23). Cuts to safety net programs will leave millions of Americans hungry (SNAP), without health care (Medicaid and Medicare) and paying for a tax cut for the rich (proposed tax “reform”). Call, write or visit your senators and representative and ask them to vote against this budget that increases hunger and poverty in the world’s richest country.
