SALT LAKE CTIY — Today’s a pretty big day for writers. It’s not only the beginning of National Novel Writing Month, but also National Authors’ Day, a day when people celebrate authors.

To mark the occasion, Scribd, a reading subscription service, looked at its user data to determine the most popular author in each state.

Dave Ramsey, a personal money management expert and national radio personality, tops the list in the Beehive State. Utah is the only state where the financial advisor led the way.

Ramsey’s articles frequently appear on the Deseret News.

The entire list includes popular authors such as Dan Brown, Stephen King and Kurt Vonnegut.

Mark Manson led the nation with six states.

King was most popular within four states.

Ernest Cline, author of “Ready Player One,” finished in second with three states.

The map also points to current events. For example, Hillary Clinton, who penned “What Happened,” her recent book on the 2016 presidential election, led the way in New York, Maine and Massachusetts.

Rapper Gucci Mane topped the list in North Carolina, too, thanks to his recent release of his autobiography, “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.”

Local author Gabriel Tallent topped the list in Oregon as well. The Deseret News spoke to Tallent back in August about the release of his new book, “My Absolute Darling,” which tells of a young girl’s struggle with her troubled relationship with her father.
