DSU women's golf is tied for third place after the opening day of the Cal State San Marcos Fall Classic.

Dixie State’s women’s golf team is in a two-way tie for third place after the opening 18 holes of play at the 2017 Cal State San Marcos Fall Classic played Monday at the par-72 Twin Oaks Golf Course.

DSU is tied with the host Cougars at plus-16 304, three shots behind second-place Sonoma State (301, +13) and 11 strokes back of the clubhouse leader CSUSM “B” team (293, +5). Cal State East Bay and Arkansas-Fort Smith are tied for fifth at plus-24 312, followed by Victoria (316, +28) in seventh, Biola (322, +34) in eighth and Dominican and Point Loma in t-ninth at plus-38 326.

Senior Cobair Collinsworth stands in a four-way tie for second place on the leaderboard after she fired a 1-over 73 with three birdies on her opening loop, while junior Katie Ford is tied for sixth at 2-over 74 after she penciled in 14 pars on her card. Freshman Cailyn Cardall is also listed in the top 15 on the leaderboard after she posted a 4-over 76 to pull into a five-way tie for 15th, followed by sophomore Ashley Fernandez in t-39th at plus-9 81 and freshman Kaitlynn Deeble in t-44th at plus-10 82.

Tuesday’s final 18-hole round begins at 8 a.m. MT.
