DSU sophomore Jayce Frampton follows through. Frampton won his second-straight tournament to help pace the Trailblazers to a third-place finish at the Hawai'i Hilo-Dennis Rose Intercollegiate on Saturday.

Dixie State’s men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2017-18 tournament schedule with a third-place finish at the Hawai’i Hilo-Dennis Rose Intercollegiate played on Saturday at the par-70 Waikoloa Beach Course.

The Trailblazers (290-288-281) combined to fire their best round of the tournament Saturday with a 1-over 281 to finish with a three-round total of plus-19 859. However, it was not enough as Wilmington (284-289-282-855, +15) managed to hold off both runner-up Hilo (291-288-277-856, +16) and DSU to claim the team title.

Sophomore Jayce Frampton (70-70-68) highlighted the Trailblazer effort as he became just the second player in DSU’s NCAA era to win back-to-back tournaments as he fired a final round 2-under 68 to claim medalist honors at minus-2 208. Frampton added his name in the record book with former DSU player Kenny You, who achieved the feat during the 2014-15 spring season when he won three tournaments overall en route to PING All-America honors.

In all, four Trailblazers finished in the top 20 on the leaderboard, including senior Dalton Stanger (72-73-71) who tied for 10th at plus-6 216, freshman Landon Anderson (75-70-72) who tied for 13th at plus-7 217 and junior Nicklaus Britt (73-75-70) who tied for 16th at plus-8 218. Freshman Spencer Wallace (76-77-74) tied for 29th at plus-17 227.

Dixie State opens the 2018 spring schedule in February, though to date the official spring schedule has not been finalized.
