Letter to the Editor

As a veteran, son of a three-war veteran and son-in-law of a Marine who fought in the Pacific during WWII, I will no longer watch the NFL; nor will I knowingly purchase any products that I know sponsor the NFL, nor view networks that broadcast them. I will not frequent establishments that endorse the NFL until such time as the league expels those individuals from the NFL who demean our national anthem at games and refuse to stop doing so.

I invite all patriotic Americans to join me. Hundreds of millions of patriots have placed their lives on the line for our nation, and many millions have paid the price with “their last full measure of devotion.”

The demonstrations by a few but significant number of NFL players is, in my opinion, unpatriotic and an affront to all veterans and patriots. Also, we, as Americans, pay the salaries of the players, coaches, league officers, officials and everyone involved in producing and broadcasting NFL games. I realize that the amount that I have paid to them is insignificant. However, if we put our foot down as a nation, we can affect change. By joining together we can hit them in their pocketbooks to the degree that they will change.
