San Jose State hasn't seen a lot of success on the football field this season, but it has captured the attention of talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres.

The team made a surprise appearance on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," to which DeGeneres granted $25,000 to the team's Beyond Football program, a program run by running backs coach Alonzo Carter. Carter worked previously as a backup dancer for MC Hammer and performed his dance routine in front of his players earlier in the season.

The Spartans will visit to take on BYU this Saturday and are coming off of a bye week. They took a tough 37-26 loss at Hawaii two weeks ago and are now 1-7 on the year, yet feel confident heading into Provo after a good week of practices, according to SJSU head coach Brent Brennan.

Brennan also expressed admiration for BYU's program and its head coach Kalani Sitake during his weekly press conference.

"Coach Sitake and their staff do an excellent job," Brennan said. "We know exactly who they are and how challenging it is to play in Provo. So it's another great challenge for our football team and I'm looking forward to seeing us play."
