SALT LAKE CITY — A number of spine-tingling TV specials and programs are creeping onto the airwaves this week as Halloween approaches. To satisfy your thirst for spooky entertainment, check out these Halloween-themed TV shows.

"Edgar Allan Poe: Buried Alive"

In the American Masters series’ latest installment, experts and biographers examine the life of writer, magazine editor and poet Edgar Allan Poe. From discussions on his literary works to the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death in 1849, this film biography educates and mystifies.

When: Monday, Oct. 30, 8 p.m.

"Secrets of the Dead: Vampire Legend"

The long-running Secrets of the Dead series is back exploring the origins of Dracula and the mythology of the vampire. Historians, scientists and archaeologists will guide viewers on a path of terrifying evidences and unlikely discoveries that began the legend of the vampire and perpetuate society’s fascination with it today.

"Michael Jackson's Halloween"

The music of Michael Jackson lifts this animated Halloween premiere, which tells the story of Vincent (Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons), who find themselves at a haunted hotel. The pair meet a host of eccentric and quirky characters, but ultimately arrive at a place of personal discovery. Actors Christine Baranski, Lucy Liu, Alan Cumming, George Eads, Brad Garrett and Jim Parsons lend their voices to the show.
