Brandon Flowers, frontman for the Las Vegas rock band The Killers, recently shared in a Rolling Stone interview why he believed Mormonism is commonly misunderstood.
“With Christianity, you have 2,000 years of separation from when the events took place and these supposed miracles,” Flowers said. “We don’t have that much separation from Joseph Smith in the 1800s and the other events that we took place, so it’s a lot easier to home in on it. People that knew Moses didn't keep journals, but we actually have that information.”
But regardless of those misconceptions, Flowers remains a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rolling Stone reported.
“Mormonism is still pretty misunderstood,” Flowers casually said. “I'm not losing any sleep over it.”
It’s not the first time the rock star, husband and father of three has been asked about his religious beliefs. According to the Deseret News, Flowers once defended the Prophet Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon when an atheist attacked them during a European TV show in 2012. Flowers also expressed his beliefs in a video on mormon.org.
The Killers’ newest album, “Wonderful Wonderful,” will be released on Sept. 22 and the band is currently on tour.
