Utah State senior quarterback Kent Myers has been named to the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, it was announced Wednesday by the organization.

The 2017 class boasts 47 standout quarterbacks from different divisions and conferences across the nation. The Golden Arm Award is presented at the end of each football season, and the winner is selected based on his accomplishments both on and off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.

Myers is one of three Mountain West quarterbacks named to the Golden Arm Award Watch List, joining Colorado State’s Nick Stevens and San Diego State’s Christian Chapman. Furthermore, he is one of just two players from the Beehive State to make the list as Utah’s Troy Williams was also selected.

Myers has a career interception percentage of just 0.021, which ranks first all-time in school history, with his 14 interceptions on 679 career attempts. He also ranks fourth all-time in school history in completion percentage (.605); sixth all-time in total offense (5,963 yards); tied for eighth all-time with 31 career touchdown passes; and is ninth all-time in career passing yards (4,848), career completions (411) and career pass attempts (679).

During his junior campaign in 2016, Myers completed 211-of-361 (.584) passes for 2,389 yards and 10 touchdowns, to go along with eight interceptions. The native of Rowlett, Texas, finished the season first in the MW and 55th in the nation in completions per game (17.7), third in the league and 64th nationally in total offense (236.9 ypg), fifth in the conference and 71st in the nation in passing (199.5 ypg), sixth in the MW and 72nd nationally in completion percentage (.586), eighth in the MW and 92nd in the nation with 10 touchdown passes and eighth in the MW and 94th nationally in passing efficiency (118.8).

For his career, Myers has passed for 4,848 yards and 31 touchdowns, to go along with 1,115 yards rushing and 14 more scores. He has started 25 of the 28 games he has played in.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation. After three decades of honoring these quarterbacks’ achievements, the Golden Arm Award is the only college football award that has 10 previous recipients still competing in the NFL.

The Golden Arm Award committee will announce the 15 finalists for the award in September. The 30th Anniversary presentation of the Golden Arm Award will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor and Grand.

Utah State begins the 2017 season at Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. MT, in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPN. The Aggies’ home opener is on Thursday, Sept. 7, against Idaho State at 6 p.m., while their Mountain West opener is at San José State on Saturday, Sept. 23.
