Real matched up against the Los Angeles Galaxy Tuesday night. The Crimson and Cobalt were looking for their first road win since April 15, when they beat the Colorado Rapids.
RSL got on the board first, with a goal in the 36th minute by Albert Rusnák, which the Galaxy matched five minutes later thanks to Ashley Cole's goal.
Nevertheless, Kyle Beckerman sent one into the back of net right before the half to give Real the lead.
In the second half, the match was all RSL with goals by Yura Movsisyan, two from Jefferson Savarino, and one from Plata. Real won 6-2 and put up the most goals on the Galaxy at home in L.A.'s club history.
Nick Rimando (5.5) - Rimando allowed one goal in the first half, but there was not much pressure from the Galaxy the rest of the night. That was until he got scored on in the 90th minute, off a redirected ball that caught him off guard. Still, it helped that Real scored multiple goals in the match.
Demar Phillips (6.5) - Even with a yellow card in the first half, Phillips continued being effective on the pitch. His set-up in the 62nd minute for Movsisyan put Real on the board with another goal.
Aaron Maund (6.5) - Maund was the best defender on the night. He kept the center back position solid throughout, giving Real confidence with their backline play. Eight clearances on the night kept Maund busy.
Justen Glad (6) - With Maund and Glad starting to show consistency on the backline, Real is starting to gain some momentum. It will be fun to see if Glad and the defense can build off this performance.
Tony Beltran (6.5) - More and more, as Beltran gets healthy, Real is starting to make strides on the defensive end. Beltran and the backline were a wall in the second half.
Luke Mulholland (7.5) - With an assist in the first half on Rusnák's goal, Mulholland did a great job of pushing the ball up the field, as the Galaxy seemed spread out all evening. He even had three shots on goal to put pressure on the home team.
Kyle Beckerman (7.5) - Beckerman and the midfield had all the right answers on this night. The team captain even got Real on the board with a goal right before the half.
Joao Plata (7) - It has been a tough year for Plata, to say the least. Hopefully, this gives Plata assurance moving forward that he still has what it takes, as he got a goal in the 81st minute when he slid the ball past the goalie.
Albert Rusnák (7.5) - What more does Rusnák need to do for this team? He is a magician on the field. Having him back with the team really amps up Real's creativity. With an assist and a goal on the night, he was the most well-rounded player on the field.
Jefferson Savarino (8) - Savarino's first goal, in the 72nd minute, was a laser. His second in the 77th minute was the cherry on top for a team that badly needed a road win. His five shots on goal led the team.
Yura Movsisyan (7) - Movsisyan's goal was another reminder that the man has a knack for scoring. Time will still tell how prominent a role he can have scoring each match.
Brooks Lennon (6) - Lennon subbed into the match in the 71st minute for Movsisyan. Plata's goal, in the 80th minute, came from Lennon, who made his presence felt quickly in the match.
Sebastian Saucedo (N/A) - In the 82nd minute, Saucedo subbed into the match for Plata.
Ricardo Velazco (N/A) - Rusnák subbed out for Velazco in the 84th minute.
