San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey (19) is tackled by Utah State cornerback Daniel Gray (7) during an NCAA college football game Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, in Logan, Utah.

A month after trying out with the team, former Utah State cornerback Daniel Gray signed with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.

Gray went undrafted in April's NFL draft but earned a tryout at the team's rookie mini-camp. The cornerback is a cousin of Cardinals quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich and joins Arizona on its first day of a mandatory mini-camp.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder started 19 games at Utah State, finishing his college career with 87 tackles, 10 pass breakups and an interception.

With Gray's signing, Arizona joins Green Bay with seven players with local ties on its roster, tied for most in the NFL. There are now 96 players with Utah ties on NFL rosters, including 21 former Utah State players.
