Payton Schiff (front-center) competes in the 1,500 meters at the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Payton Schiff of the Westminster track and field team was honored by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Thursday when she was named second-team all-conference in the women’s 1,500 meters.

Schiff, a senior from Salt Lake City, finished sixth in the 1,500 meter race at the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month. She completed the race in 4:52.04 to record the fifth-fastest time in the event in school history.

Schiff becomes Westminster’s first all-conference selection from the women’s team. She adds to the men’s recipients from last season, Wesley Spargo (first team) and Casey Evans (second team), as Griffins to be honored by the RMAC.

Schiff holds 11 Westminster school records, including the mark in the 1,500. She is also part of two relay teams to hold school records. Schiff established four of those school records during the 2017 outdoor season.
