"The Little Mermaid" is set to become a live-action musical in October.

There's a new movie that will be swimming onto your TV screens this year.

ABC recently announced it will bring "The Little Mermaid" to the small screen as a live-action musical on October 3 in a two-hour TV event called "The Wonderful World of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live!"

ABC has not yet revealed who will be starring in the musical, though the TV network said they are looking for celebrities "whose performances will weave seamlessly throughout the original animated film," according to TV Guide.

The musical will feature the score from the original movie composed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.

"Fans of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's Oscar-winning songs will be wowed by this never-before-seen live action/animation hybrid experience featuring a yet-to-be-announced cast of stars, whose performances of the beloved hits will be woven seamlessly throughout the original animated film," E! News wrote about the announcement.

It will join the list of movies, such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "A Christmas Story," which are also slated to get live-action musicals later this year.
